Singing to Daddy

This is the song that I'm talking about lol

Kai got sick about 2 weeks ago.
Last week we took her in and found she had a lower Respiratory infection and a touch of Pneumonia.
Her Dr put her on antibiotics and a inhaler.
The past week and half has been so frustrating!
Thankfully she takes the inhaler with no problem but jeebus the antibiotics were a mega trial!
We ended up calling the pharmacist to make sure it was Ok to do it and then hid the antibiotics in a small amount of juice to mask the flavor.

So THANK GOD last night was her last dose of antibiotics.
Well the antibiotics really messed with her tummy and gave her the runs for a couple days so she developed kinda like diaper rash even though she's potty trained.
So last night after a bath HB put some Vaseline and corn starch on her butt just like we used to do when she had diaper rash when she itty bitty.
Afterwards she jumped up in her My Little Pony panties and started dancing and singing to HB.
She loves to watch Doc McStuffin's and the song they sing at the end when the toys are all better is what she started singing to him.
She sang "I feel better! So much better! Thank you Daddy for taking all the ouch's away!"

She has bounced back faster then I thought she would.
She makes me giggle so hard.

Oh Thank God!

Today we went to Kai's very first Parent/Teacher conference.
I couldn't believe how nervous I was!

I absolutely HATED Conferences when I was a child.
Sometimes I would go with once I was older and it was so uncomfortable being dissected by the teacher.
It seemed like every time I didn't go the Teacher would say something to get me in a ton of trouble or make my parent's disappointed in me.

I almost stayed home because I was so nervous about going. Its not that Kai is a bad kid or anything because she's not. She's polite, friendly, caring and generally sweet but I couldn't help the nerves.

Turns out I had nothing to be worried about at all!
Kai is doing amazing and isn't having any problems. For her age she's actually pretty advanced.
Found out she's actually one of the youngest in her class.
She listens great, follows directions with no issues and makes friends easily.
She has even surprised her teacher with what she knows already.

I am such a proud Momma!
Half the time I'm worrying I'm screwing up some how.
I'm so relieved right now.

He's not there anymore.

Kai has been asking to go see my Grandfather. Her Great Grandfather.
She doesn't seem to understand or realize that he's not here anymore.
This is going to be our first Halloween without him.
It was always one of our favorite times of the year ever since I was little.
No matter where we lived; on Halloween we would make the trip to Cadott to see  my Grandparents.
Grandpa and I would go through Grandma's candy bowl.

Now he's not there anymore.
The house is locked up and empty, grass has grown over his grave next to grandma now and I'm left alone.
My Grandpa was like my Dad when my real Dad was gone.
He was always there for me, always listening.
It feels so wrong for him to not be here anymore.

It feels so strange to be this sad during my favorite time of year :/

How do I help Kai understand?

Here is the blog post about him passing away in September...letting go of great grandpa

Rescue Puppies (Teddy's story)

Teddy waiting for Kai to come home :)
He is half Chihuahua and half Pekingese

Kai's best friend in the whole world besides Mommy and Daddy is Teddy. He is a itty bitty 12 lb ball of fur :)

We had originally got Teddy for my Mom because her therapist said she needed a new companion (HB says Yeah like Dr Who! lol)
Well my Mom is allergic to cats so that was out and I don't think a bird would do too well.
So we started looking. We checked Craigslist (total fail), we looked in the news paper and we tried some of those Pet Finder websites.
We knew right off we didn't want to go through a breeder because there are plenty of animals in the Humane Society that need homes and love.

We checked our local Humane Society but they only had large dogs and we were hoping to find more of a lap dog.

One night 3 days before Christmas I came across this little guy for free on a local for sale page on Facebook.
I started emailing the guy to get more info.
He was looking to rehome Teddy because he had been abandoned at his friends house and being mistreated by the kids.

We set everything up for the next evening and just told my Mom that we were taking her somewhere for a surprise.
We met them in a McDonald's parking lot. On the way there my Mom must have tried a hundred different tactics trying to find out what we were up to lol
The minute Teddy spotted my Mom he went to her and wanted to be picked up.
I knew the minute she picked him up she was hooked.
That was nothing compared to when he met Kai. He started licking all over her face and cuddling her.

The poor little guy was only a year old and so skinny.
The guy we got him from explained how he was never home and Teddy came from Texas. He was left at their house by his brother-in-law that didn't like or want Teddy.
The man's wife ran a daycare and the kids were really mean to Teddy.

After we got Teddy home we found out that he had scabs all over under his fur and that he had lumps on his sternum, ribs and back legs. Found out they were scar tissue from him being extremely mistreated. He weighed maybe 7 lbs when we got him.

I just took him to the vet and he's up to 12 lbs and fit as a fiddle.

I know many people say this but if your going to get a pet please check your local Humane Society first before you contact a breeder.
Teddy is the sweetest little dog I've ever met and it breaks my heart to think of him being mistreated

Delicious fish!

This evening my Dad decided to cook dinner for the whole family.
He made baked Pollock, rice a roni and peas.

He totally free styled on the fish and it was so YUMMY!
It didn't smell or taste fishy in the slightest.

I wish I had been thinking and took a picture.
My dad probably would have given me a bunch of crap for doing that though lol Not that I care.

Here is the recipe...

2 lbs of Pollock or Cod.
drizzle with liberally with Olive Oil
splash with White Wine Vinegar
Sprinkle with Lemon Pepper seasonings

coat pans with Pam.

I wish I had the exact measurements for this but he was just kinda winging it.

Enjoy!
